How do I create Zoomify content for ImageFolio?
Zoomify Images are created by uploading images using iBULC, our standard batch
upload component. You DO NOT need Photoshop or any other Zoomify Converter to
use the ImageFolio Zoomify Plug-in. The built-in Zoomify converter within iBULC
rapidly creates 'tiles' of the source image. These tiles are created at many
resolutions and are stored on your server. The resulting Zoomify Image provides
everything the Zoomify Viewer needs to enable web site visitors to zoom-and-pan
within the image.
How secure are my images with Zoomify?
Zoomify's zoom-and-pan viewing solution makes copying images much more
difficult than other viewing alternatives. Zoomify is viewed using Flash
Player and the Player does not present a right-click Save As option as is
standard with any large image in a web page. Second, Zoomify's display approach
uses many small pieces - like a mosaic. These image 'tiles' are downloaded only
as needed, so the entire image at full resolution is not displayed at full
resolution. Using 'screen shots' to capture an image would therefore require
assembling many small images in a photo editor - an inexact and time consuming
process.
It is important to note, however, that no image presented on the web can be
completely protected - if you can see an image, the data is on your computer
and it can be retrieved by someone sufficiently determined.
Can I save a Zoomify Image?
No. Zoomify images are protected in that they cannot be saved the way that
JPEGs in a browser page can: right-click Save As. Screen captures are possible
but will only capture the current view (along with the toolbar and navigator
window). While Zoomify is not presented as an image security technology, it
does offer the benefit of making acquisition of images from a site much more
difficult.
Are all browsers supported? What about devices?
Yes. Flash Player supports many versions every popular browser (including but
not limited to Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) on every common platform
(including but not limited to Windows, Macintosh, and Linux) as well as many
devices.
Are there any special system requirements?
No. Zoomify is viewed using a tiny Flash movie. Flash Player is already present
on over 97% of desktops and many devices.
How easy is it to use the Zoomify Viewer?
The Zoomify Viewer is completely intuitive to use, having been applied on
thousands of web sites with millions of site visitors. The Viewer automatically
presents Zoomify Images with a familiar toolbar of zoom and pan buttons. The
Viewer also supports direct mouse dragging to navigate an image. And the Zoomify
Viewer supports common keystrokes including the arrow keys for panning and the
Shift and Control keys for zooming in and out.
Can everyone view my Zoomify Images?
Yes. Zoomify requires only a browser and Flash Player for zoom-and-pan viewing.
Zoomify Viewer version 3 requires only Flash Player version 6, which is already
installed on over 97% of desktop computers.
Is there any special server setup needed?
No.
